Welcome Back!

Thanks for stopping back in to check in for some course updates and some golf news! First some course updates:

-Still playing original 9. Hoping to have all 18 open sometime by the end of the week

-The rain we got was good! Course is still a little wet in spots, but carts are still allowed

-League Meeting is Monday March 24, at 6pm in the shop

-Starting April 9, every Wednesday we will be doing a “Wednesday Special”. Foursome for $100($25 per player, 18 w/cart). Here are the details for this: must have a group of 4 to qualify (we can try to help pair up into foursomes). Tee Times are now required for Wednesday play. Walk-ins will still be taken, based on tee times and carts available.

Now for some golf talk. To start, Rory wins the Players Championship in a Monday playoff. But here is a more interesting story, and this one is a great read for all my juniors. Yesterday, they held the Monday Q for the Valspar Championship, a PGA Tour event. One of the four qualifiers was a young man by the name of Andre Chi. Well, why would I talk about Andre Chi over Rory’s impressive win? Well besides the fact I have some hard feelings about Rory, Andre is the underdog, and I live for the underdogs. I’m sure no one knows who Andre is, but he was a DIII All American at Methodist University. Yes, DIII. Yes, you don’t have to play at Texas or Florida to play on the PGA Tour. This is why the story is so important to talk about. For my juniors, this is a prime example of what hard work gets you, why you don’t have to go to some big Division 1 school, and why all you do is focus on your game and process.

Back to Andre, and his impressive 5-under 67 under (from what I read) brutal and windy conditions. I have done a couple pre-q for the Monday’s, and it’s not easy to say the least. So, to not only get into the Monday, but qualify for a PGA Tour event, very impressive. Congrats Andre, and good luck!

Catch Andre and the rest of the PGA Tour at the Copperhead Course and Innisbrook for this week’s Valspar Championship.
